CHANGES IN OUR OPERATIONS: COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS
We are adhering to CDC guidelines and masks must be worn inside all of our offices.
Please come prepared for in-office appointments and urgent care wearing a facemask.
OrthoConnecticut cares about the health and safety of our patients and staff. In order to continue to minimize the spread of COVID-19 and keep our patients, providers, and staff safe, we have implemented safety protocols throughout our offices. We are fully open for office visits and Telemedicine appointments continue to be available for non-urgent care and consultations.
Safety Precautions
All patients will be asked if they’ve had COVID-19 within the past 10 days or come into direct contact with someone who has COVID.
We respectfully ask that our adult patients do not have any visitors accompany them to our offices during their visit. Only one adult patient will be allowed into the office unless that patient requires physical or cognitive assistance. If no assistance is needed, any accompanying adult, such as a spouse or adult child, can be virtually involved in the office examination by using their cell phone from their car and communicate with the patient and physician while the appointment is in progress. Please discuss any special accommodations you would need when making your appointment. We request that only one parent or guardian accompany pediatric patients during their visit. Additional people in the exam room will need to be approved by the physician.
For in-office visits, be assured that OrthoConnecticut is taking many precautions to ensure your safety while in the office. These include:
- Making sure all patients have and are wearing masks at all times
- Maintaining recommended physical distance from other patients
- Cleaning patient exam rooms between patients
- Cleaning common areas and registration desks throughout the day
- All staff are wearing masks and personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times

Telemedicine – Videoconferencing with Your Physician
The COVID-19 crisis has required medical practitioners to look for new and creative solutions to treat patients during this pandemic. Balancing patient care with protecting staff and the patient community has been our utmost priority. Our Telemedicine service has enabled patients with non-urgent orthopedic needs to have a virtual office visit through a video call with their physician. Many musculoskeletal issues will be best diagnosed in person, however if you feel a Telemedicine appointment is preferred or required, please let us know.

Please note that the process for submitting insurance claims currently remains the same as for an in-person office visit. Please check with your insurance provider as this may change.
If Your Surgery Was Postponed
The COVID-19 pandemic required that we take protective measures to prevent the spread of the disease. We had therefore postponed elective surgeries to allow resources to be available for severely ill patients who may need them.
An elective surgery is a procedure that is done for a medical condition that is not urgent or life-threatening. Many orthopedic procedures are elective, and while your condition may be painful or limit your movement, it is usually not life-threatening. Surgery can be safely postponed.
Now that are offices are open and elective surgeries are proceeding, we encourage you to call the office for an appointment to resume your care.
