Our Physician

Assistants

At OrthoConnecticut, our Orthopedic Physician Assistants have broad medical and orthopedic-specific training at accredited programs and work directly with our physicians in a particular orthopedic specialty.

Physician Assistants are medical professionals who care for patients, diagnose illness, develop and manage treatment plans, prescribe medications, and often serve as a patient’s principal healthcare provider.

With thousands of hours of medical training, PAs are knowledgeable, versatile, and collaborative and are an important resource for patients.

PAs practice in every state and in every medical setting and specialty, improving healthcare access and quality. They work independently and alongside physicians, typically enhancing patient experience.

Many of our PA’s have been working alongside a single OrthoConnecticut surgeon for years, developing a comprehensive approach to patient care and becoming intensely adept in diagnosis and treatment of orthopedic issues. Our PA’s work with their OrthoConnecticut surgeon assisting with surgeries, seeing patients for diagnosis and follow-ups and are schooled in all pertinent protocols regarding patient care. The expertise and experience of our PA’s positions them to play a key part of the integrated care team.

While PAs often see patients on their own, the attending physician reviews every element of the patient’s chart and care plan and maintains full oversight of each patient’s case. In many cases, patients are fortunate to have the attention of both the surgeon and the PA, giving them more flexibility for appointment scheduling and benefiting from the tenured expertise of both practitioners.
